Introduce Kids to Calligraphy
Calligraphy Online Tutoring
The word calligraphy comes from the Greek words kallos and graphos, meaning “beautiful” and “writing,” or “drawing.” Today calligraphy refers not only to well-made letter shapes but also to their decorative arrangement. It differs from good handwriting by a conscious intent to create and arrange letters attractively. Legibility is often of secondary value in calligraphy, but craft and skill of execution are always important.
What is the difference between handwriting and calligraphy?
Calligraphy is the art or practice of writing letters and words in a decorative style; the letters and words so written while handwriting is the act or process of writing done with the hand, rather than typed or word-processed.

Calligraphy Benefits
It helps develop fine motor skills and memory retention
In order to do calligraphy, you need to know how to use the pen to create each stroke of the letter. This activates the motor areas of the brain.
Studies have shown that children retain the spelling of a word much better when they are writing the word out by hand.
We are most creative when we are using our hands
By keeping our hands moving and our bodies active, it encourages our brain to think at a higher level. Creating a calligraphy art piece allows us to move our hands, and putting together word compositions gives us a chance to unleash our creativity.
It helps us gain confidence as we get better at the skill
Learning calligraphy is a skill; it takes a lot of patience and practice. We may get frustrated in the beginning when we start learning, but as we get better and see the beautiful progress, we begin to take pride in our work and gain more confidence.
